We also apply our work ethic to the community. Our flagship charity in the Chicago office is Off the Street Club (OTSC), the oldest boys and girls club in the city. The Desktop Support Technician participates in the daily support activity for C-K’s computer fleet. He/she is also involved in delivering projects that streamline ongoing maintenance for agency computers. This includes, but is not limited to, PC/Mac computer, printers, scanners, mobile devices and common desktop software.
The position reports to the Director of Information Technology. The position also receives direction from the Desktop Service Manager and the Desktop Support Specialist.
About the role:
Assists users with their questions about all supported software and hardware
Sets up new systems and user accounts as needed
Assists with distributing software to employees
Provides tactical support for mobile devices (Windows Mobile, iPhone and Android) including phone functional issues, device certifications, exchange connectivity
Stays abreast of open ticket items and takes responsibility to see work through to completion
Provides support to Office Services on all conference room A/V equipment
Provides support for all network and personal printers
Properly inventories and maintains all IT documents and IT-related assets and procedures
Recovers dormant equipment
Checks out all loaner equipment and laptops and tracks their return
Maintains supplies and calls support for printers as required
Researches and follows up with users on any difficult issues that don’t have an immediate solution
Ensures that all project research is complete and thorough
Proactively learns new desktop related technologies
Keeps informed on the emerging trends in technology and identifies opportunities to employ them at C-K
Understands the flow and process of the agency and how they impact and relate to job assignments
Trains and assists others in the use of technology when appropriate
Demonstrates a strong commitment to agency and client confidentiality
Proficient in all relevant versions of Microsoft Windows and Apple OS
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with candidates, as well as employees at all levels in the agency
An engaging and persuasive verbal presentation style
A creative problem solver able to quickly identify concerns, evaluate the situation, and recommend solutions
